Did you ever hear of the saying "March winds" or Mother Goose's nursery rhyme about March winds?
March winds bring April showers,
April showers bring may flowers.
The March winds have come gusting through this week, today especially. The wind is gusting, howling, and booming like thunder outside our house. Peyton and Annisten keep running to the window and to see what is going on out there. Or they ask "What's that noise?" with a surprised look on their face. A couple of times Peyton has come running telling that we have a ghost.
Why are March winds so strong? Well... spring is trying to get blow away the winter weather. According to the weather pros...it has to do with differences in temperature and changes in horizontal pressure that cause this mess.
"March winds tend to be on the strong side because, as spring tries to push winter out, differences in temperature tend to be more extreme over a shorter distance, which leads to more dramatic horizontal changes in pressure and thus stronger winds over widespread areas."- Washington Post
Picking up all the tumble weeds and junk that blows into my yard gets old. Plus I don't need any more help with bad hair days ( I have enough trouble on my own with that one). On the positive side, its kinda fun to listen to the wind.
