Annisten loves her pacifier. She carries it around with her every where she goes. At times, Annisten thinks she needs every pacifier she can find. Now that she is one, it is time to take it away. We have been dreading this day, knowing that it will turn things upside down at our house.
We started by slowly taking it away from her during the day. Annisten complained a little bit but it was not to bad. Then came taking it away from her at night. She screamed and screamed! Then screamed some more. The poor girl was hysterical! Corey made me feel guilty about taking it away from her. He said that "her pacifier is her favorite thing in the world and you are taking it away from her. Let her keep until she is five, who cares." In the end, she got her pacifier back. Annisten was so mad that she continued to scream.
I was talking to my friend Susan about the pacifier situation. She suggested that I do what her sister did with one of her kids. Susan said to snip a little bit off every day and eventually she will not want it anymore. So I gave it a try and it worked like magic; it was amazing!
The first day I snipped off the very top. Annisten brought it to me. She pointed at it and said, "uh-oh!" It was so cute. That was her way of telling me it was broken. I continued to snip away at the pacifier. After about four days, she had no interest in it anymore. There were no tears or anything.
