Crazy Weather Strikes Again!

This a has been a crazy spring with the thunder storms and tornadoes. Yesterday Peyton, Anni, and I watched a storm roll in across the skyline. Then the sky started to look a bit alarming.

So I came inside to check the weather. No sooner had I stepped into my apartment and my weather radio alarm went off. I turned on the news to see what was going on. (Oh by the way, my weather radio and Fox News are two of my best buds for the summer.) We were under a Tornado Watch. So I called Sara to let her know of the storm. My Dad called to make sure I knew about the storm ( I'm adding my parents to the list of best buds as well.) After I got off the phone with him, the Fox News said that the tornadoes were in Belton which is literally 2 miles away! Sara and I decided to head to the KC office with the kids because there is a basement. On the way there, the sirens were going off in Lee's Summit (which is right next door to us). The rain pelted so hard against the car I could barely hear the radio. The thunder and lightening was crazy as well. Oh did I mention that the road was flooding as well. We could literally see the clouds rotating! When I called Corey to tell him I was going to the office, he said cars were floating away by him.

Finally I made it to the apartments and brought the kids in from the downpour. I made a second run to the car to pick up poor Elmo, who dropped in a puddle. The water was ankle deep and it was hailing. Peyton and Drew were thrilled to see each other. Sara and I have decided that these two boys are just a like and will be partners in crime this summer.

The guys trickled into the office all telling their adventures with the storm. In the end, everyone made it back safe and sound. There was the coolest lightening display from the storm. The lightening was so crazy it caused a petroleum fire in KC. No joke the lightening you see in this picture is what everyone saw every time lightening would strike.
